In the laser art installation Étude by Moritz Hilscher and Michael Sollinger, symmetrical “laser sculptures” were created on October 11, 2025, in the cylindrical interior of the Monopol in Berlin.
The installation took place as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of LaserAnimation Sollinger. For Étude, eight PHAENON accurate laser projectors were positioned evenly on the interior wall of the building at the same height and precisely aligned to a single point in the center.
The installation explores the aesthetic and perceptual possibilities of this setup: Moiré effects, geometric symmetries, and optical patterns created by the overlapping of uniform laser beams that appear to be in motion. The geometric symmetries created by the laser beams were the focus of the laser art installation.
