For some time now, there has been an increasing number of laptops and mini-PCs that are not equipped with an Intel or AMD processor, but instead with an ARM processor. ARM processors offer high performance and efficiency but are not binary compatible.
To enable existing x86 and x64 applications to run on ARM processors, Microsoft has integrated an emulator called Prism into Windows on ARM, which works similarly to Rosetta on macOS. Over the past few months, we have intensively tested all programs of the Lasergraph DSP Production Suite under Windows on ARM. The good news: There were no unexpected issues!
Specifically, the following programs have been tested:
+) LGRemote
+) LGPreview
+) LGServer
+) LGTimecode
+) LGStatus
+) LGControl
+) ShowLine
+) proTize converter DSP
+) proTize max DSP
+) Lpv Creator
+) Lpv Player
+) Laser Disable
+) ILDA Viewer
+) Gobo Wizard
As expected, only the dongle versions of proTize cannot be used, as there is no ARM-compatible driver for the dongle.
Conclusion: As long as no dongle version of proTize is required, there is no reason not to use an ARM-based laptop or PC.
